Elizabeth (Liz) Baker grew up in Ware, Massachusetts and went on to graduate from Mass College of Liberal Arts (formally North Adams State College) in 1993 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Women’s Studies. In December of 2007, Liz received her MS Degree in Communication and Information Management. Additionally, in March of 2008 she received her Masters Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
Liz has been working in the Child Care field for over fifteen years. She started as a camp counselor for an overnight camp in Wisconsin, later she worked for Girls Incorporated of the Berkshires as a Program Coordinator and then the School Age Director for almost five years. For the past eight years she works at the Youth Center, Inc as the Executive Director.
At the Youth Center Liz manages capicity building, and fundraising/development projects. Coordinates programs, recruits volunteers, and conducts community relations. Additionally she oversees the Drop-in Center, Special Events & Field Trips, Summer programming, Outreach programming to the schools and communities.
Liz prides herself on being an expert in the Out-of-School Time profession, as well as the use of best youth development practices in the Youth Center programs.
Liz is a graduate of the Berkshire Leadership Program, class of ’97, Treasurer of the Adams Cheshire Savoy Youth Coalition, on the advisory council of the Western Massachusetts Out of School Time Network, the Adams Community Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol partnership, member of the Clearwater Camp Foundation Board, The Northern Berkshire Martin Luther King Committee, the Northern Berkshire Youth Collaborative, and the Pittsfield Juvenile Firesetters Coalition in which she also teaches the Adolescent and Latency Fire Education Courses.
